The Informatics Education Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Studies (FTK) at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha has once again organized the Film Festival for the second time. The event, themed “Nitisara Muda” or “The Essence of Young Wisdom,” featured a short film competition aimed at high school/vocational school students across Indonesia and students from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha.
The two-day Film Festival, held on Saturday and Sunday, December 21-22, 2024, presented a variety of exciting activities. The first day included screenings of films submitted by competition participants, while the second day featured the main events: a short film workshop, the announcement of nominees for Best Film and Best Actor categories, and the celebration of Mother’s Day.
From a total of 50 films submitted, the jury selected and nominated the five best films. The Head of the Organizing Committee, I Ketut Andika Pradnyana, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that this event serves as a platform to encourage the creativity of students, particularly in filmmaking, while also strengthening the study program’s role in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
“This Film Festival is a space to hone the cinematic skills of young generations while instilling wisdom values into their creations. Through this, we also contribute to providing quality education directed at fostering creativity and innovation,” he said.
The event was highly praised by the Vice Rector III of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Prof. Dr. Drs. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes., who attended and officially opened the event. In his remarks, he commended the festival as a platform for student creativity. “This Film Festival is an extraordinary step in developing the potential of young generations, not only as artists but also as agents of change capable of delivering inspiring messages through visual media. Events like this also support the university’s key performance indicators (KPIs), especially in creating a broad impact on society,” said Vice Rector III.
On the first day, the event was attended by 203 enthusiastic viewers who watched the participants’ works. Meanwhile, on the second day, first-semester students of Informatics Education actively participated in enlivening the main event.
This event also became a strategic moment to strengthen the relationship between educational institutions and the community through art and culture while raising awareness about the importance of collaboration in achieving the SDGs through various fields, including filmmaking.
