Kartini Day is celebrated on April 21 every year. This date is also the birthday of R.A. Kartini. R.A Kartini is one of the greatest national figures from Indonesia. Kartini was designated as a National Independence Hero which is commemorated every year as a big day that later became known as Kartini Day. Kartini Day is usually celebrated in the form of a flag ceremony, by wearing traditional clothes from different respective regions as a symbol of Unity in Diversity.
In commemoration of Kartini Day on Thursday, April 21, 2022, the entire academic community of the Informatics Education Study Programme (PTI) Undiksha created a work entitled Women in Education. This work is a part of the Kartini edition of Bismapati (A Talk-Show Programme with PTI). In the Kartini edition of Bismapati, we discussed the contemporary Kartini such as women’s emancipation, the role of women, and various other topics with Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si., M.Sc.
Ketut Agustini is one of the lecturers of the Informatics Education study programme, Undiksha, and also the Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational. Ketut Agustini said that a woman can be a leader.
“Kartini’s figure really inspired me and many other women. Commemorating Kartini’s Day can be said to be an alarm for a woman to keep fighting in achieving everything she wants. At this time a woman, of course, can become a leader. We can see the existing examples,” said Agustini (4/22).
The Kartini edition of Bismapati’s programme not only featured conversations with resource persons, but also a video documentary as a form of respect for all female lecturers and employees in the Informatics Education environment who have worked and contributed to Informatics Education. In addition, several students and lecturers also wished a happy Kartini’s day to female lecturers and employees in Information Education.
“Female lecturers at PTI are fun. They can be invited to discuss and to confide in making the study programme more exciting. Happy Kartini’s Day to all women at PTI,” said Gus Pascima, one of the lecturers at PTI. (Lora)
