Jakarta, 4 August 2023 – On 27 and 28 July 2023, the Informatics Engineering Education Study Program (PTI) at Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) held a meeting to explore potential collaboration with the Indonesian Artificial Intelligence Center (AiCI). AiCI is an institution founded as a result of collaboration between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) University of Indonesia and UMG IdeaLab Indonesia, which focuses on developing human resources in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This assessment event was attended by the coordinator of the Informatics Engineering Education Study Program, Mrs. Dr.phil., Dessy Seri Wahyuni, and was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Dr. Baiq Hana Susanti, M.Sc., as Deputy Director of AiCI. The event took place at the Pertamina Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building – FMIPA University of Indonesia, 4th Floor, University of Indonesia Campus.
This assessment aims to invite practitioners and the AI research industry to collaborate in developing learning in schools. This step is in line with the profile of PTI Study Program graduates, which aims to produce prospective ICT teacher graduates who are equipped with literacy and skills in using AI as a learning medium in schools, which is currently a trend among the younger generation. Adoption of the use of AI in learning will be accommodated in learning scenarios that optimize the role of AI and Robotics in achieving learning goals. This is in line with SDG 4: Quality Education, which encourages innovation in education to enhance the quality and relevance of learning.
In this assessment, several collaboration objectives between AiCI and the PTI Study Program were determined, including lecturer training in the form of AI for lecturers, joint teaching on relevant PTI study program courses, as well as research collaboration involving artificial intelligence practitioners in developing applications and learning media based on digital. These steps align with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, which promote innovation in technology and education to achieve sustainable development.
Mrs. Dr. Baiq Hana Susanti, M.Sc., as Deputy Director of AiCI, welcomed this collaboration plan. He stated, “We are very excited to collaborate with the Informatics Engineering Education Study Program at Ganesha Education University. This collaboration will provide great opportunities in the development of artificial intelligence science and provide support for PTI students to gain internship opportunities and explore the potential of their thesis or final work,” he said. said Baiq Hana Susanti
The PTI Study Program also hopes to send its lecturers to take part in training on the use of AI for vocational learning (AI for Vocation) in accordance with the knowledge roadmap for AI in learning. This is expected to improve the quality of learning in the PTI Study Program and provide opportunities for students to become skilled in utilizing AI in the world of education.
It is hoped that the results of this assessment will be followed by sending lecturers to take part in AI for Vocation training, as well as providing opportunities for students to intern at AiCI and explore potential in their thesis or final work. Apart from that, there is another potential to involve AI practitioners in teaching activities in several relevant courses in the PTI Study Program.
This collaboration between Undiksha and AiCI offers great potential in developing the field of artificial intelligence in the education sector and is expected to be an important milestone for technological progress and innovation in the world of education in Indonesia. (an)
