Singaraja – The Engineering and Vocational Faculty of Ganesha Education University held a Technical Assistance (TA) Workshop which presented a well-known education expert from Germany, Prof. Thomas Koehler, from Dresden University of Technology (TUD). The event entitled “Digital Vocational Education Revolution in Higher Education: Time to invest in Digitalization” aims to share experiences and enrich faculty programs in the era of digitalization (24 July 2023).
This workshop was opened grandly by the Deputy Chancellor 1 of Ganesha University of Education, Prof. Dr. I Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T., who welcomed the enthusiasm of the participants present. The event, which took place in the main seminar room on campus, was also attended by lecturers, students and teaching staff from various study programs at the Technical and Vocational Faculty.
The moderator for this event is Dr. phil. Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S.Kom., M.Eng., who opened the session by providing background regarding Prof. Thomas Koehler and the importance of the vocational education revolution in the digital era which increasingly dominates the world of education today.
In his presentation, Prof. Thomas Koehler enthusiastically reviews various innovative methods used to face challenges in the world of education today, especially in the vocational field. He discussed the application of the latest technology that can enrich learning and provide a more interactive learning experience for students.
“In today’s digital era, we need to invest in the digitalization of vocational education to ensure students are ready to face the demands of the ever-growing job market,” said Prof. Thomas Koehler.
This event was also guided and coordinated by Deputy Dean 1 of the Technical and Vocational Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si., M.Sc., expressed his hope that the knowledge and insights gained from this workshop could be implemented well in lectures and the faculty curriculum.
Prof. Dr. Ketut Agustini also added, “The presence of Prof. Thomas Koehler provides positive encouragement for our faculty to continue to innovate in supporting a vocational education revolution that is more adaptive to technology.”
With high enthusiasm, the workshop participants asked various questions and had intensive discussions with Prof. Thomas Koehler. They share their views and experiences in facing changes and challenges in the field of education.
This Technical Assistance Workshop is a step forward for the Engineering and Vocational Faculty of Ganesha Education University to continue transforming into a technology-based and highly competitive vocational education center.
As the end of the event, Prof. Thomas Koehler expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience at Ganesha University of Education and hopes to collaborate further with the university in supporting innovative and future-oriented vocational education. (an)
