The Informatics Education Study Program at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) continues to demonstrate its commitment to international collaboration by organizing a joint examination with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Malaysia. This event was held on Monday, November 30, 2024, in the Microteaching Room at Undiksha, featuring examiners from both institutions.
The examination was attended by student Kerta Hendrawan, who presented the topic “Computational Thinking Games Application.” In his presentation, Kerta introduced an innovative application that integrates computational thinking with educational games. The examination process was guided by a panel of examiners consisting of Dr. Erni from UPSI Malaysia and three lecturers from Undiksha: Ida Bagus Nyoman Pascima, S.Pd., M.Cs., Dr. I Made Gede Sunarya, S.Kom., M.Cs., and Dr. phil. Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S.Kom., M.Eng. Each examiner provided in-depth feedback regarding the development of the application and its potential implementation in education at various levels.
“This activity is a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their competencies before international examiners,” said Dr. Erni, an examiner from UPSI Malaysia. She also emphasized the importance of such collaborations in preparing students to face global challenges.
The joint examination is part of the Informatics Education Study Program’s efforts to enhance the quality of education through collaboration with international universities. The involvement of examiners from UPSI Malaysia not only offers new perspectives for students but also enriches the academic insights of Undiksha lecturers.
“Programs like this are crucial for providing students with real-world experience regarding international standards and connecting them with best practices in their field,” stated Dr. I Made Gede Sunarya, one of the examiners from Undiksha.
This joint examination activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education. This goal aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all, while promoting lifelong learning opportunities.
By involving international examiners like Dr. Erni from UPSI Malaysia, the activity provides students with the chance to understand global education standards. Furthermore, this program facilitates cross-country knowledge transfer, enriching the quality of learning for both students and lecturers involved.
Additionally, the examination’s topic, “Computational Thinking Games Application,” supports educational innovation through technology. This aligns with efforts to create learning experiences relevant to the digital era, thereby expanding access to quality education for a wider audience.
The implementation of this joint examination is expected to mark the beginning of broader and more in-depth collaborations between Undiksha and UPSI Malaysia. It also aims to motivate other students to continually develop their skills, especially in integrating technology with education.
The Informatics Education Study Program at Undiksha remains committed to producing outstanding graduates who can compete on an international level. Collaborations like this represent a concrete step toward achieving that vision. (al)
