Another achievement at the international level was successfully made by Undiksha Informatics Education (Pendidikan Teknik Informatika or PTI) students (Mahapati). This time it came from the World Science, Environment and Engineering Competition (WSEEC) which took place at Universitas Indonesia on July 17-20 2022. The two teams that competed in this competition were: Team SEEN chaired by I Made Deon Virgananta (PTI) with three members Putu Zasya Eka Satya Nugraha (PTI), I Gusti Nyoman Anton Surya Diputra (PTI), and Ketut Nova Wirya Dinata (PTI), with their supervisor I Ketut Andika Pradnyana, S.Pd., M.Pd. While the Tec-House Team is chaired by Putu Zasya Eka Satya Nugraha (PTI) with 4 members Kadek Reda Setiawan Suda (Undiksha Alumni, PTE), Gede Budi Setiawan (PTI), Kadek Yuda Wiryanatha (PTE), I Gusti Ayu Tresna Dewi (PTI) with the supervisor Dr. Nyoman Santiyadnya, S.Si., M.T. Both teams won gold medals.
This prestigious event is followed by participants from 12 countries in Asia and Europe. The SEEN team presented the innovation “SEEN: (Safety Helmet Detection) to Ensure Worker Security and Safety in Construction Site”. According to the team leader, Deon Virgananta, this innovation is a safety helmet detection system to maintain the safety and security of the head of construction workers.
He further stated that it took two weeks to prepare for this prestigious competition. Under the guidance of the lecturer, I Ketut Andika Pradnyana, S.Pd., M.Pd, the process was passed smoothly and resulted in a proud achievement.
Meanwhile, the Tec-House Team presented the innovation “Tec-House: Automatic Door Lock with Face Detection to Improve Home Security”. As explained by the team leader, Zazya Eka Satya, Tech-House is an automatic door lock system using face detection and face recognition.
He also hopes that the innovations that have been formed can be developed well. The institution is expected to support students’ innovations. “We will develop a product in a more ergonomic form and will patent this product because this innovation is quite new. With this kind of innovation, we hope the campus can support us to continue the innovation development,” concluded Zazya.
Informatics Education Corporate, Dr. Phil. Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S.Kom., M.Eng. gives an appreciation for the achievements achieved by Mahapati. With the increasing number of Mahapatis who excel, they can inspire other students to come up with ideas that can be developed to solve problems that are happening in the community. “Of course, having PTI students who excel is one way to inspire other students. With the knowledge taught by the lecturers, the hope is that students can develop their creative ideas to help problems that exist in society,” concluded Dessy Seri Wahyuni. (an)
