The Vocational Education and Training, Evaluation, and Instructional Design (KR-VEEID) Research Group held community service at the Subak Tabanan Museum. The activity lasted for two days, from 3-4 June 2022. On that occasion, the secretary of the Tabanan Regency Culture Service officially opened the event. In general, this community service activity aims to provide training and media assistance, and promotional content for employees and staff of the Subak Tabanan Museum. There were five pieces of training conducted over two days. On the first day, training on the use of Augmented Reality Subak was chaired by Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si., M.Si. The profile video training as a promotional medium for the subak museum was delivered by Dr. Phil, Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S. Kom., M.Eng. On the second day, three pieces of training were held, namely, graphic design training led by Nyoman Sugihartini, S.Pd., M.Pd., socialization media training by I Nengah Eka Mertayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd, and content training digital information, chaired by I Gede Bendesa Subawa, S.Kom., M.Kom.
The Head of the VEEID Research Group, who is also the Coordinator of the Informatics Education Study Programme, Dr. Phil, Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S. Kom., M.Eng. explained that this service activity was a form of Undiksha’s support for the Subak Tabanan Museum.
“Seeing the potential that exists in the Subak Tabanan Museum, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha provided training on media creation and promotional content for the Subak Tabanan museum. With this training, we hope that the Subak museum will be better known by the public, especially the younger generation,” he said.
Before the implementation of the training, it was first started with the launching of Augmented Reality Subak (AR Subak) by playing the AR Subak Video Teaser. AR Subak technology developed by Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si., M.Si and team is a mobile-based application that was developed to help interpret the artifacts found in the Subak Tabanan Museum, into the form of 3D objects. Artifact interpretation is carried out using Augmented Reality with Barcode Marker technology.
Agustini said AR Subak was the development of his dissertation when he finished his doctoral programme. The creation of this technology certainly provides a new experience for visitors to the Subak Museum.
“The application of AR technology is aimed at increasing museum visits by providing new experiences for visitors. With AR Subak which is accessed via mobile, visitors not only could see artifacts from the museum but also get education in the form of explanations for each of these artifacts,” concluded Agustini who also serves as Deputy Dean 1 of FTK.
In line with this thing, the Chair of the Subak Museum UPTD, Ida Ayu Nyoman Ratna Pawitrani, was very enthusiastic and appreciated this activity. His party emphasized that this activity was a pilot project for the development of the Subak Museum. “We want the Subak Museum not to seem like a place to watch, with AR Subak and media creation training and promotional content, it can increase visitors and provide new experiences to visitors through the display of artifacts with a 3-dimensional display,” concluded Mrs. Dayu.
