Singaraja, 6 October 2024 – In an effort to enhance the competencies of educators, particularly lecturers and laboratory technicians, the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Studies (FTK) at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) organized an intensive training program involving lecturers and laboratory technicians from the Informatics Engineering and Industrial Engineering Study Programs. The training aimed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills in using Virtual Reality (VR) Oculus Quest 2 and Electroencephalogram (EEG) devices to support educational and research activities.
The six-day training was held from September 30 to October 6, at the Basic Laboratory of the UPA ICT Undiksha. The event was fully coordinated by Mr. Agus Aan Jiwa Permana, S.Kom., M.Cs, Head of the FTK Laboratory.
The Informatics Engineering Education (PTI) Study Program actively participated in this training by involving lecturers with expertise in multimedia studies. The training instructors were Mr. I Gede Partha Sindu, S.Pd., M.Pd, and Dr. I Made Agus Wirawan, S.Kom., M.Cs, both from the PTI Study Program. In the first session, the instructors provided basic knowledge about the features and elements of the VR and EEG devices. The training continued with a detailed explanation of how to use and maintain the equipment.
Participants were given the opportunity to operate the devices directly under the guidance and supervision of the instructors. This hands-on experience was aimed at helping participants gain practical knowledge that can be applied to teaching and research.
This training is also part of Undiksha’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: “Quality Education.” By leveraging advanced technologies like VR and EEG, the learning and research processes are expected to be enhanced, contributing to inclusive and equitable education for all.
Through this training, it is hoped that lecturers’ knowledge and skills in utilizing VR and EEG devices will improve, positively impacting the development of education at Undiksha and contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.
