Singaraja, December 22, 2023 – The Informatics Engineering Education (IEE) program at Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) held a unique event titled “Movie Night: Illuminating Knowledge, Unraveling Stories” with the spirit of supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This event is an initiative by Undiksha’s IEE program to provide entertainment, knowledge, and also raise awareness about sustainable development issues among students in a relaxed atmosphere.
Movie Night not only celebrates the creativity of students in producing creative films as part of their final projects in the Multimedia Learning course but also provides a platform to strengthen understanding of how technology and multimedia can be applied in the context of sustainable education. Through this opportunity, the audience is invited to immerse themselves in the creative atmosphere generated by the screening of these films, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the SDG values ??contained within them.
“Movie Night,” held on Friday night, December 22, 2023, took place at the Undiksha Auditorium Building and was attended by hundreds of students from the Informatics Engineering Education program, cross-disciplinary students, and PMM students. This event not only provides entertainment but also inspires participants to actively engage in achieving sustainable development, in line with one of the SDGs which emphasizes Quality Education (SDG 4) by providing a different learning experience to students through the screening of creative films developed by their fellow students. Through this platform, they can absorb the concepts of technology and multimedia in an educational context, enhance their understanding of the subject, and foster an interest in deeper learning.
Furthermore, this event also supports SDG 9, Innovation-Industry, Infrastructure, and Technology: by showcasing multimedia works that are the result of students’ innovation in using technology and multimedia to create educational content. This encourages the development of technology skills and creativity that are essential for advancing industry and infrastructure towards sustainable development.
The Chairperson of the Committee, I Ketut Andika Pradnyana, S.Pd., M.Pd, explained that the goal of this event is aligned with the aspirations of sustainable development. “We want to create a fun learning atmosphere while providing inspiration to students. The films developed by students not only contain moral messages but also reflect the SDG values ??that are important for our future,” he said.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Education, Kadek Reindra, also expressed appreciation for this initiative. “This is truly enjoyable. I appreciate the students and the committee for organizing this event with enthusiasm in support of sustainable development goals,” he said.
“Movie Night: Illuminating Knowledge, Unraveling Stories” serves as a real example of how education and entertainment can synergize to raise awareness of sustainable development issues. It is hoped that such activities will continue to inspire and motivate students to engage in real actions that support the achievement of SDGs. (Ap)
